Will Sitting Kill you? Dunno but standing desks hurt the back!

05.12.2011 · Posted in Current Events

How would I know this? I just converted my Ikea computer desk into a standing desk. So, as I write this post, I am standing, and adjusting my back, cause it hurts. But that could be from the beer fueled belly and the out of shape forty year old body. I'm trusting this will get better in time. But is there any proof to it? Granted there was a study that was on the New York Times by Dr. James Levine. And, he does have "DR" in front of his name. Something that I don't have. I only have a few initials behind my name, not in front of, so i'm not on the same playing field as a doctor. That said, he's opinion, ok scientific study, is probaby the one to go with. Then again, I actually kinda like it. First, the pros. I do have to say that the standing desk is kinda cool. I actually setup two of them. One on my Ikea desk, which nearly killed me, and another on an Ikea bookcase, my laptop. I can now go ... More

Star Trek Phase II – Most Awesomeness fan project ever

05.11.2011 · Posted in SciFi and Fantasy, Television Shows

For those that haven't heard, i'm sure there aren't many, there's been a Star Trek fan project in the works for seven years now. Yes, seven years of fan based TOS, the original Star Trek series, remakes. Well, not remakes exactly, this audacious group plan to remake every episode of the final two years of the original Enterprises mission. Pretty cool huh? See, for all those non-trekkies out there, the original Enterprise, with Kirk as her captain, was meant to fly a five year mission. But the execs in TV land canceled the show only three years in, so we missed out on the final two years. Well, for some fans, that's just not good enough. They have begun filming and plan to film the final two seasons. It's audacious and cool, and already well into their plan. Their budgets aren't as big as Paramount and as a result they are only able to film one episode every year or so. They have six episodes filmed and ready to be downloaded and a one shorter piece. They have managed to get George Takei, Walter Koenig,Denise ... More

Stargate Universe – Cool finale or terrible end?

05.10.2011 · Posted in SciFi and Fantasy, Television Shows

Well, it's over now. I know I just posted about this but it's a big event so I'll double dip. STU ending without answering anything, without closing any story lines and without getting anyone home. And ya know what? It's still a better ending than ABC's Lost and BSG. What? Am I nuts? I don't think so. Think about it for a moment. Sure, not much was answered on Stargate Universe, ok nothing, but is that really a bad thing? My point is the ending was pretty awesome. And you could tell it was a rushed ending. It even looked like several of the cast members had longer hair. They certainly seemed physically different from the previous episodes. Almost as if they were called back to the studio to film the last episode instead of going out like Farscape did with a big ol "To be continued". For the circumstances, show being canceled, rushed ending, it was pretty cool. And by pretty cool I mean it leaves a lot open. The story does continue but it continues in our imaginations. No, that is not cheesy. With Lost ... More

Stargate Universe ends tonight – And i’m pissed off about it

05.09.2011 · Posted in SciFi and Fantasy, Television Shows

Yes, after only two seasons, the great show, at least I thought it was great, Stargate Universe, ends tonight. And it really sucks. It wasn't the best of series to be sure. And it wasn't my favorite show by far. But it did have some things going for it. Dare I say it even had a touch of BSG? What I think killed it was also a touch of Star Trek Voyager. Yes, that old show where the bad guys flew in giant ham ships, look at them, they look like hams. What I mean here is that though there was a solid story to Stargate Universe, it was just too episodic. Often we are greeted by some stupid episode where the crew has to get off a planet and before some monsters eat them. Big whoop. Now, it wasn't a lot of episodes like that but it was enough to slowly kill the show. They really needed to stick to their guns and do more about destiny's mission. Though, honestly, when you start looking for god, there's really not much to do ... More

Celebrity Apprentice – Who Got Voted off? Trump Did! Obama Strikes Back

05.02.2011 · Posted in Current Events

It's almost as if it was a monster movie. The giant Trump looking moth, Trump-ra(?) attacks the super powerful, 100 story, fire breathing, ultimate badass, Obama-zilla. Sure the big moth did some things to piss off the big lizard. He buzzed by his head, dropped leaflets saying he wasn't born in Japan, and generally annoyed the hell out of Obama-zilla. But when you annoy the most powerful nuclear reptile on the planet, what happens? He pre-empts your stupid reality show and gives you a bitch slap. "BAD Trump, now go away". That's exactly what Obama did last night. We killed Osama Bin Laden, and congrats to all the US service men and women for doing it, and Obama needed to go on air to talk about it. But, he didn't actually talk about it until like 11:30 or so. NBC jumped the gun in taking Trump off the air. Coincidence? I don't think so. I bet the White House made a call saying we want the 10:45 to midnight time slot And NBC, rightly so, said yes. And fans across the nation ... More
