Ghost Hunters Academy is baaaad

01.03.2010 · Posted in Entertainment, Paranormal

Its been a while since I wrote about that funny little program on the SyFy (I've given up the battle of syfy (seefee) being stupid, i guess it's hear to stay), so here is what may be my last post on this topic. I've wondered for some time if the Ghost Hunters show is fake. From everything I've seen on the net, all the opinions and commentary, I have to conclude its at least very suspicious. The incident in the lighthouse with the chair that moved, Grant was the last to leave and the chair moved shortly thereafter. Some have speculated there was a string tied to the chair. The famous Halloween episode where  Grant's jacket is pulled has many many people thinking it was a total scam. There is a Youtube video out there showing Grant playing with the collar just before the incident occurs. When his jacket is first tugged his right hand is behind his back, NOT in his pocket. There's another video showing the collar move while everyone was looking at it and yet he ... More

Four hour work week and the great Shopify contest

While stumbling around the Internet, which I do for about 10-12 hours a day, I came across yet another self help, get rich, quit your job now type of website. For some reason I decided to give a peek and see what it was about. First, I have to say, it's not the run of the mill get rich quick scheme. It's guide on how to live how you want to live, not how to be super rich. The author has spent his life looking for ways to not concentrate on how to make money but rather how to support the life he wants to have. That's actually a subtle yet very different mindset that most of us have. I don't know about you but my ideal life does not include going to an office for 40 hours a week. One of my friends and I were having a discussion recently. He moved from a super busy environment, one where he saw his family only on the weekends, to one with far less work to do and a normal 9-5 job. ... More

Will Dick Cheney please STFU

12.31.2009 · Posted in Current Events

I really don't want my blog to turn into a sounding board for either the left or the right. I tend to lean towards the left, mostly independent,  but think a strong balance should be established. That said, Dick Cheney, please shut the F#&$ up! There is a tradition in Washington D.C. Current presidents do not throw their predecessors under the bus. It's also an understood rule that past presidencies don't throw the current presidency under the bus. Well, Dick seems to have forgotten those rules. I saw today that he said Obama is ignoring the war we are in. No, actually, he isn't. He's trying to fix the gigantic mess that you, Dick Cheney, gave to the American people. Lets stop with the name calling and stone throwing shall we. I recently saw a facebook entry of a, I suppose now former, friend of mine that said "new years resolution = less contact with democrats". Are you kidding me? Great, lets isolate the parties, lets bunker into our own camps and bring congress to a shrieking halt so that nothing gets ... More

Eink readers – nook vs kindle vs sony vs ray kurzweil

12.30.2009 · Posted in Current Events, Technology

Im sure everyone has heard in recent months that the war of the eBook is about to explode in 2010. First came the Kindle. All eInky with the promise of ditching that aging book shelf and going totally digtal and earning your geekdom credit. Now, like many things started in the land of the technophile, the ebook/eink race is headed to the mainstream. What does that mean for us early adopters? In my opinion, it means nothing. Ok, so you bought a Kindle, put 100 books on it, downloaded Kindle for the iPhone and Kindle for the PC, and can now read your book while on the train, in a plane, in your home, on the phone and eating some rather putrid looking green eggs and ham. But all of a sudden futurist guru Ray Kurzweil claims to be making his own eBook and you get frustrated that your purchases can't come off the kindle and onto the Nook, Blio, Sony or one of the other small time players out there. If this is you, let me point something out. Whaddya ... More

Bruce Allen new Redskins General Manager

12.29.2009 · Posted in Sports

I know I'm a bit late to this party but better late than never. We have a new GM in this town so it would seem. The Bruce Allen, son of Redskins legend George Allen, era has arrived. Will it change things? Will it make a difference? What will he do anyway? First off, I do think it will make a difference. I think Vinny Cerrato was under-qualified. Sure it looks like his two wide receivers may be panning out. But, seriously that's still just two, three if you include Orakpo. The offensive line doesn't exist. Campbell gets no pass protection and they haven't drafted anyone in the first round for offense since Chris Samuels. I won't even get into Haynesworth and the millions we gave him. So, what will happen next year? For sure the entire coaching staff is gone. If they would have won out on the season, maybe they had a shot, but now, it'll be genocide on all Redskins Coaches. With this upcoming year likely to be a no cap season, you may see a player buying frenzy ... More
