Kimbo Slice and the UFC Ultimate Fighter

Do you remember when you were in high school and the there was one kid who would beat people up by sitting on them? He was fat, big, slow, and would use his large stomach to terrorize all those who ate a reasonable sized meal. Well, that’s what happened on the UFC Ultimate Fighter. I read one opinion that Kimbo was disappointing in his debut on the UFC. Not true at all.

The fight started out good for Kimbo. He did well on the stand up and avoided the take down as best he could. But, Roy, his opponent, then broke out his secret weapon, a tummy the size of Kimbo. Roy is fat. Very fat. He is in shape, the shape of a fat guy. He used a very large stomach, pushed Kimbo back, sat on him, tapped him on the head a few times and the ref called the fight. Lets be clear here. In the first round, when Roy was on top of Kimbo, he had his arms pinned and was tapping him on the head looking to the ref to stop the fight. He wasn’t doing any damage, he used his large fat stomach, immobilized Kimbo and swatted him on the head the way that grade school bully did so many years ago.

Was Kimbo a disappointment? No way. He fought well, he did it without any ego or a chip on his shoulder. He came in as a fighter and lost as a fighter. Roy asked for a whopper with extra cheese after he won the fight. Who has more class? Clearly Kimbo. Who has more skill? It doesn’t take much to eat yourself obese and then sit on people that’s for sure.

Like Rampage said in the episode, no one is going to get that belly off of them. Strong as Kimbo is, he’s not going to avoid the belly flop, a normally not seen move in MMA. I look forward to seeing Kimbo fight in the UFC in the future, no doubt Dana will include him in future cards. He’s a big draw, a nice guy, and as long as you don’t make him fight a fat guy, he’ll probably do pretty good.

As for Roy, well, enjoy that Whopper!
