TAPS – Ghost Hunters evidence or fraud

09.24.2009 · Posted in Paranormal

I may be returning often to the topic of TAPS, those famous rotor routers guys that track down ghosts and ghouls on the SEEFEE (syfy) channel. Why? Well, I find the topic fascinating. I think we all do. Even atheists want to have proof that there is no afterlife, just so they can stick to all the believers in the world. Maybe the biggest reason any wants to know is to scream “I TOLD YOU SO” from the tops of the tallest buildings.

I just want to know, will I ever see departed loved ones? Will I ever meet the likes of Einstein or Lincoln? Will I myself survive death and haunt my own house when some jerk moves in and paints it all some dreary gray?

One possible answer is coming from TAPS. They have accumulated some evidence that begs further scrutiny. One such piece of evidence, however, seems to make me think these guys are not legit. It is a raging question by the way, are the boys (and girls) of TAPS, The Atlantic Paranormal Society, full of bubcus or actually finding ghosts.

Once, they, TAPS, visited an old abandoned prison. This was the episode where one of these brave souls, and a cameraman if I remember correctly, ran down a hallway screaming that a hand moved in front of their face. At first look, to me, that is solid proof that 1. they aren’t faking and 2. that guy is a bit of a pansy. If they were faking something, why stage some elaborate fake run down the hall and scream scene? That’s a bit childish.

But then, they did provide some evidence that made me go hmmm. On one of the upper walk ways of this prison, they captured a figure moving closer to the camera and then receding from it into the darkness. I thought, when I first saw this, ‘holy shit’. It was a really interesting piece of film footage, honestly. They used to have links to it on their website, but now I don’t see them. Interestingly enough about this piece of footage, Grant said on the show, “it looks like some one’s pants leg” and wasn’t convinced it was anything.

Well, I looked at the footage, and looked, and looked. I realized something. The dust was was moving awfully fast. In fact, as I looked, it seemed as if the footage was being sped up. As if it was on fast foward. The more I looked the more I thought, yep, this is a fake.

Whether or not it was, we’ll never know. TAPS will always say it was genuine of course. To fake something like that though, it would take a lot of work. Bear Grills couldn’t get away with staging a lousy horse roping fiasco after all. For the plumbers to produce the footage they did from the prison and have had faked it would be an amazing feat. Still, it looked sped up to me and that something hanging was rocking back and forth at an odd rate of speed.

Final verdict? UNKNOWN. If it’s a real piece of evidence, it’s startling. If it’s a faked piece of evidence, it’s well done. All we can do is watch more episodes, which we will, and look for this instances where it’s blatantly faked, or absolutely real, either way, someone is going to scream “I TOLD YOU SO!”.

  1. Grant has continuously shammed the viewers.i.e. the time his jacket collar gets pulled on the Halloween special.all the time he keeps his left hand in his pocket(to pull the wire) the time the chair in the light housed moved after he just left(another wire trick) and the lamp moving at the plantation that he sat right next to.He is feeling pressure from his wife (for the money) and from t.v. reps.. He in scamming all the loyal viewers.

  2. I personally have encountered the paranormal and I can sense and feel when there is a presence around-those feelings can’t be faked. Ghost Hunters has actually investigated a hotel about 10 minutes from where I reside and I know for a fact that the hotel is haunted. If u seriously just want to talk shit don’t bother watching the show. The show is awesome and I hope you get spooked out of your mind then you believe lol.

I have to admit watching T.A.P.S on tv is entertaining and interesting. I had been a fan for a few years now. Not so much so because I believed that these investigators would show me the ghostly evidence one craves to see in their lifetime, but more for the enjoyment of questioning “Could that have been real?”.
Recently though, I found something on you tube that just sucked all the fun out of my ghost hunting nights with the crew. It was a video labled ‘ Ghost Hunters A Fraud’. What I found was actual evidence of just how fake they were. I mean it’s not like I didn’t suspect it. However, somewhere deep down I wanted to believe that they truely were out to catch a real ghost. If your a Ghost Hunter fan prepare to be really disappointed.
The video shows the crew walking in the dark through a house with their flash lights. Then they stop and turn around and one of them say, ” Its ok we’ll go on 3-2-1.” Then they turn around with their flashlights and stand back in place waiting for the directors orders. So basically, they want to give the illusion that your on the investigation with them following them step by step on the show. But in reality, the scense are probably evaluated and planned out.
The video on also shows evidence, that in my opinion, is just undisputable. In the scene Jay and Grant are walking through what seems like a cave. Grant is walking behind jay and you see him slightly trip foward and his jacket lift’s up a bit. Grant start’s saying I felt someone behind me push me. And yes it did appear as if it was legit. The way the jacket moved was very curious. Except the part were grant walks right by the camera, reaches his arm behind to his hood, and unhooks the hook connected on his hood that was used to stage his scene. Its a very clear shot. And if you go on You Tube and watch it it’s hard to debunk such a good piece of evidence.
