President Obama revoke’s Executive Order 13233 on day one!
In a move that I’m sure will be quietly talked about by people who know what executive order 13233 is, Obama has already begun to reverse Bush’s mistakes. And thank God for it. This one act by President Obama proves, to me anyway, that he is going to do everything he says he will do.
What is executive order 13233? The Bush Administration wanted to hide from public view all the documents from past president’s and specifically the Reagan presidency. No idea why of course and I’m sure it was a Cheney move. But whatever the reason, Bush informed the Archivist to delay the release of any Reagan documents for 90 days. He did this twice. He then had executive order 13233 drafted to officially not allow any documents to be released. Basically shrouding the presidency in secrecy. What is even worse, and little known by anyone, Bush tried to hide the fact that he even made executive order 13233! I went to whitehouse.gov and looked for it and couldn’t find it during Bush’s presidency. It was gone. Skipped over. Not there. Hidden. Every executive order that he made was there in a nice neat list except for 13233. Can you believe that? A president trying to hide his actions from the American people? Terrible.
Well, President Obama’s first executive order was to rescind and revoke this horrible move by Bush. I can not thank President Obama enough. I wish this would get more attention in the mass media. I for one would love to know what Bush was trying to hide in Reagan’s documents, or should I say what Cheney was trying to hide.
The presidency should be transparent. It should be open. Everything done should be visible to the American people. Shame on you Bush and Cheney for hiding these things. Who cares anyway? What were you hiding in Reagan’s administration? He was a great president, let people see it and stop being so secretive. No one would have cared anyway. Hardly anyone knew about 13233 anyway! Was never talked about and was hidden from view. Fortunately the Obama administration didn’t miss it and have corrected it. It makes you wonder what else Bush did and tried to hide.
Regardless if you are republican or democrat, you must agree that there should be transparency from the Oval office. This was a terrible thing Bush did and it’s great to see it gone on day one from Obama.
It should also be noted that 13233 by Bush actually revoked a Reagan order, 12667, which basically was adding transparency to past presidential documents.
If you think that way, why is Obomer still using Executive Order?
Are you dumb? Presidents use various Executive orders as they see fit. Every president has signed an executive order. Executive orders do different things. Executive order 12333, for instance, signed by Reagan, states “No person employed by or acting on behalf of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, assassination.”. I happen to like that one. I happen to hate a few of Bush’s.
