What do Sanja Gupta, Barack Obama vs Al Qaeda and wanna be Senator Burris have in common?
So, a gold coin, with chocolate filling, to the person who can guess the ansewr. Anyone? If you guessed all stories caused or created by the media you’d be spot on. Each one of these are media created, or caused to be created, sensationalized events that simply should never have been. Well, not so much shouldn’t have been but were directly caused by the presence and influence of the media in day to day life. How so? Lets take a look at each one.
First up, Sanja Gupta is going to be tapped to be the next surgeon general. Yes, the Dr. from CNN. Now, he’s a Dr. for sure, an accomplished Neurosurgon, obviously dedicated and skilled. But why make him surgeon general? What qualifies him for the post? Why would the Obama team make such an odd pick? Some have speculated it’s precisely because Dr. Gupta is part of CNN. His experience with the media and more importantly knowing how to present medical views in a way the average person can understand make him ideally qualified. That translates to slow with lots of pictures and smiles.
So, basically, the Obama group needs someone that can both support medically and present pleasantly their medical plan. When you think about it, it’s a brilliant move. Why get a boring doctor that no one knows when you can get one with a huge smile that has his own saturday morning show, yes I watch it. People love smiles after all. Although, Gupta did have a yell fest once with the fat man, Michael Moore, which means we’ll see a new movie about him soon. Not that that matters but interesting all the same. What’s all this mean? The position of Surgeon General is now half medical and half media spokesman. Gupta is a combination between C. Everett Koop and Ari Fleischer. He is firmly embraced in the media and as a result that makes him ideal.
Next, Obama and Al Qaeda. Yes, some how these morons claim that Obama is raining missles on the heads of the palestinians. Normally I wouldn’t comment on the words of fanaticals, they are generally out of their minds and not expressing rational views. But this is really over the top. Obama isn’t even in office and he’s being blamed for every wrong in the world. Even the idiot Limbaugh blamed Obama for the poor economy. Why? Because the blame game works. Point a finger at someone, get it carried on the media, get the message out there, and people will believe it. People are either bored or looking for someone to blame. That of course means they are hungry for someone to feed one of those two desires.
Lastly, and just as good as the others, Senator Roland Burris of Illinois. Well, I should say, wanna be Senator. Now, the governor, we all know his name, may have done some bad things, he may not. But he hasn’t been charged, and he still has the ability to do his job. When Bill Clinton was impeached he was still able to appoint ambassador’s and do his job. Why is this such a big deal? Because the media makes it so. if the media shows it, the people will watch it and act. First they say Burris can’t be senator and then some say he can again. There’s nothing illegal about his appointment for sure. So why reject him? Because the media is all over it.
So what’s all this mean? We are all slaves to the media. If, because of the media’s influence, a media entrenched Doctor is a better choice than someone who isn’t, go media. If the media runs stories of fanatic views, someone will hear and believe it, go media. If the media slams a Senator that didn’t do anything wrong, ban him from dc! Go media.
I’m not immune. If you are reading this and are from the media establishment, give me a shout. I’ll join the ranks to increase page views. Why not?
