Tragedy of the Travolta’s
I’m sure everyone has hard of the tragedy of the Travolta’s oldest child. I saw the story shortly after the tragedy occurred. I hadn’t know of their son’s health issues or that he was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease. I looked into this more as I was curious what this disease was. The cause of the disease is still unknown though the Travolta’s believe that using cleaning chemicals may have caused the condition in their child. I suddenly realized why they are so involved with Scientology, in that one of the main tenants is detoxification. They even stated that the Scientology practices of detoxification may have helped their son with his disabilities.
There’s no real easy way to handle the loss of a child, and my sympathies go out to the Travolta’s during their time of grief. These events have even made me question my own use of chemicals in the house and just what they are doing to me, my family and the environment.
I use, was using, a Lysol disinfectant spray to clean kitchen surfaces and other areas around the house. I read this story and began thinking, if I spray this on a counter top, and then put food on it, am I not ingesting it? Yes, yes I am.
It’s amazing how much we are all affected by news stories. I read this story, and continue to read the stories being written every day about this tragedy, and continue to worry about household cleaning supplies. I researched and found something called http://www.puregreen24.com/. It is apparently the only approved, by the EPA, green disinfectant on the market. Others I’ve seen are to use white vinegar and it can be very effective at killing viruses, bacteria and mold. I’ve ordered the pure 24 product after reading some good reviews here and there. We’ll see.
The one thing I find curious about the Travolta’s is their joining the Scientology church. Was it just for the detoxifying dogma that the Scientologists have? That of course raises a perplexing question. What if a group or an organization has one good point, should the other not so good points be overlooked? I am no Scientologist but it does appear that their detoxification program can, and does appear to be, useful for many. They have a large following so there must be something worthwhile in there somewhere. If they can provide some good to some people in the world, and in fact more good than bad in the world as a whole, maybe they aren’t such bad guys after all. They certainly, according to the Travolta’s, have done good for their son.
I suppose the golden rule here applies. If you aren’t hurting anyone, whose business is it anyway. If you want to believe in light speed capable DC3’s, why not? If you get some benefit out of it, maybe there’s nothing wrong with it in the long run.
